EARS (Effingham Animal Rescue Sanctuary) is a volunteer run not-for-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization who relies on supporters dedicated to rescue. We are a licensed animal shelter organization with the Illinois Department of Agriculture. EARS is a foster-based sanctuary, which makes us a bit different from other pet adoption agencies in our area. 100% of our animals are in foster homes being loved and cared for by foster families who open their homes and hearts to act as foster parents until permanent placement is established.
EARS Adoption Coordinator
Job Brief
We are seeking a dedicated Adoption Coordinator to manage our dog and/or cat rescue operations. The Animal Adoption Coordinator’s responsibilities include coordinating rescue efforts, facilitating animal medical appointments, and liaising with animal foster homes and adoption applicants. Our ideal candidate has a profound love for animals and is passionate about animal welfare and protection. Knowledge of different species and their care requirements is essential. The ultimate goal of the Animal Adoption Coordinator is to ensure the welfare of rescued animals and facilitate their journey to a new, loving home.
Responsibilities
Coordinate and oversee animal rehome operations
Collaborate with veterinarians to ensure animals receive necessary medical care
Facilitate animal rehabilitation and prepare them for adoption
Work with animal foster homes and adoption applicants
Review, check and select adoption applicants
Develop and implement animal welfare policies and protocols
Manage volunteers and staff involved in rescue operations
Conduct community outreach and education initiatives
Maintain accurate records of rescued animals
Assist with fundraising and promotional events
Qualifications
Previous experience in animal care or rescue
Knowledge of different animal species and their care requirements
Strong organizational and coordination skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to handle stressful and emotional situations
Physical stamina to handle animals of varying sizes and temperaments

Work Environment: This role involves both office work and field operations. Some travel may be required for rescue missions or community outreach events.
