Three times a year, the library offers for sale quality used fiction and non-fiction books, dvd's, audio books and cd's for children, young adults and adults. This summer's sale dates are Friday, June 12, 9am-2pm and Saturday, June 13, 9am-12pm. Volunteers are also needed Thursday June 11, anytime between 930am and 130pm for set up and last minute shelving. Full shifts are not required and volunteers can work one or two hour blocks if needed.
The Summer Sale will have an amazing collection of Children's/Teachers materials and an overabundance of biographies as well as plenty of fiction, non-fiction, mysteries, cookbooks, etc. for crazy low prices $1 or less. This makes for VERY busy sale days, especially Friday morning and Saturday at closing time. This sale's target is to reach 400 shoppers over both days so we are hoping "Many hands make light work"!
There will be several tasks that you can try your hand at: “register” station (cash only) and packaging customer purchases; assisting patrons by bringing their books to the register table to hold while they are shopping; straightening shelves as needed; assisting patrons in their search for an item or carrying out purchases to their car if needed.
If this sounds like something you would be interested in, we can also offer an early bird "shopping" time during your volunteer hours on the prep day or before the sale days (your selected books would be free to you).
And yes, teen volunteers are welcome and encouraged – bring a friend!
If you love to read and enjoy connecting with other readers or you just wish to support the library, please join us for the Summer book sale. fyi, proceeds from the Book Sales go back into the library's general fund... to purchase more new books for your reading pleasure!
Thank you!
